Bruce Lee in NatGeo

Well, Kung Hei Fat Choi to every one! A lot of people of Chinese decent is probably celebrating the Chinese New Year as of now. As part of the celebrations, National Geogrpahic channel has been showing Bruce Lee: The Legend, a documentary of the life and times of the great actor and martial artist, Bruce Lee.

Bruce Lee is a genetically Chinese American Citizen born on November 27, 1940 in a Chinese Hospital in San Francisco. His father was an actor himself which probably inspired Bruce to take on an acting career too. Although of course, Bruce Lee had a different idea in mind.

Bruce was considered the first martial artist to ever incorporate martial arts on film which caught the attention of the world world. Everybody became suddenly interested in Chinese martial arts. And Bruce was considered a great Chinese cultural icon because of the nationalistic themes of his films. It was no wonder why people all around the world were shocked when he suddenly died at 32.

What I Think About Metro Manila Film Festival

The Metro Manila Film Festival is a an annual film festival in the Philippines. It was established in 1975 and has been celebrated for about 37 years now. As a support for the films included in the festival, no foreign films will be shown on the duration of the festival, from the official premiere on December 25 until the first week of January.

As a movie goer, its the first time that I have actually watched any film from the festival during the festival and on a participating cinema. As an observation, the movies were not “serious”. Well most of them. The movies were all for the purpose of entertaining the mass and seldom would you see a very educational or exceptional movie. In all honesty, I think that the last-minute entry, Kingpin: The Asiong Salonga Story was the first of its kind to ever get selected for the MMFF.

I think that MMFF still has a long way to go compared to other film festivals. But, I also think that the vibrancy festivals in terms of its supporters is a positive sign. At present, I think that it mainly focuses on profiting from locally-produced films and it should also venture out of that purpose in the future to actually present sensible and culturally enriching movies.

Healing Foods-

A lot of things we eat based on my rim tablet with super internet connection, consume and apply help us be healthier. It is a given fact that what we eat can either worsen or improve our health condition. But did you know that the food we eat can also heal us and protect us from various health problems. A classic example would be milk.
Milk is a great source of calcium. Here’s the thing: a study conducted in 2008 involving female Navy recruits has shown proof that milk along with vitamin D stress fractures on the bones. Of course, calcium is used by the body to repair and build the bones. Vitamin D, on the other hand, is the primary regulator of calcium absorption in the body.

Of course, nothing beats medicine in healing but to hasten healing, it is recommended that intake of medicine must be accompanied by appropriate diet. Certain foods and beverages are proven to decrease the risk of certain health problems.

Being Informed

Yes, you may be very busy at work or at studies. You are too focused that you no longer have time watching the television or seating in the living room reading a newspaper.

If that is the case, then you may appear like you are a mediocre—not informed of what is happening around. Well, obviously, that is not healthy. You may be missing the important news around you. You may be missing half of your life.

Ideally, one should be well versed of the news in his or her surroundings. You should at least allot time in watching the television, specially the news programs. Or, if you want to at least lessen your burdens or stress, then you may want to watch programs which are entertaining—at least you are informed of the latest trends and fashions. Again, being informed is very healthy. That, you should know.

Runner’s High: My First Marathon

December 4, 2011– Just a few days before my birthday, I gave myself a treat. I woke up early (4:20 AM), put on my shoes and went to the Quezon City Hall. Today marks my first ever marathon experience.

I am not a very athletic person but I definitely included “joiningin a marathon” among the things I wish to do before I die. And so, I grabbed the opportunity when it presented itself.

The whole experience was both very tiresome and worth it. It was an awesome sight to see a stream of runners in Commonwealth Ave. It was amazing; Commonwealth looked like a yellow stream flowing steadily.

Having participated only in the 5-kilometer leg, I was still worn out after. I was only half-way through the track when I felt my legs buckle and my breath fell short. I was amazed at the level of endurance and stamina of those runner who participated in longer distance. Next year, my goal is to participate and finish 10-kilometer leg.

Life is Not Always a Game-

Some people think that life is a game. They can win or lose. When you think of life this way, you will end up either winning or losing. Most of the times, you lose. However, when you stop thinking of life as a competition, you will then realize that there is more to life than just competing with everything around you.

Life is so rich and is worth living with document imaging to document and print the moments. You need to come to terms with the reality that life is all about enjoying every single bit of it. You might not go through the process of being hurt or being happy at all times. Yet, when you make sure that you live life as you should, it will then be very easy for you to accept and enjoy. This is the key for some people to have lived their life in its very essence. They stopped thinking of it as a game and handled it in a very natural way.

Anybody Can Commit Suicide-

The rate of suicide these days is very alarming. And these are not even those Occupational Therapist Assistant Jobs. A lot of people decide to end their lives instead of dealing with pain or sufferings. However, we can stop this from happening. We need to realize that the jolliest person we meet day after day might be the one who bear the biggest cross. We might also not realize that the person sitting next to us in class has already thought of ending his life. Even our family members might be bearing something that we never know as they never tell.

Therefore, it is very important that we interact with these people. Let them feel that they are a part of a bigger circle. Let them realize their value. They might not be able to survive their current sufferings, but it would make them feel better knowing that there are people who are willing to share their crosses. With this, suicide can somehow be prevented.

3 Things To Do on your Special Day-

There are probably a lot things you have in mind to happily celebrate the day you were born but I hope that the things I listed might inspire you on your special day.

1. Acknowledge your parents. We all know the drift, most of us celebrate our birthdays with the “always me” attitude. But wouldn’t it be nice to acknowledge the love your parents have given you on your special day? Hey, its time to give them due credit, right?

2. Give love. Well, Christmas is not just the season for giving. Celebrate your special day with love. Treat your friends well and thank them for keeping up with you for all these years.

3. Pray. For all the blessings you received the year round, give thanks to the Lord for them. Well, praying’s good but if you’re feeling it, it’d be nice if you go and visit the church and reconnect with God.

It might be your birthday but it’s also their day, too. Don’t be too self-centered that always looking for equipment leasing, share the love.

Should I Stay or Should I Go-

Sometimes in life, we come across decision points where we can either go on with our lives just the way they are or we can absolutely change our course for the better or worse. And in these decision points, it is always hard to decide especially if you are aiming for self-improvement and yet would not like to take a big risk for changing your career path or even your life’s course. And we become stuck between the “should I stay” clause and the “should I go” clause. And we start to rationalize things and consider the cost-benefits of our choices like gourmet gift for your sister.

Should I Stay – Staying can be the easier between the two. It involves less risk. But then again, the fact that you have thought of leaving is a pretty obvious sign that there must be a problem with the “now”. And so we go on with “should I go.”

Tips for a Healthy Prostate

Prostate disorder, nowadays, is becoming a serious health problem for men worldwide. Small dysfunctions of the prostate can lead to prostate cancer. Hence, you should take care of your prostate.

Following a healthy diet is very important in lowering your risk of prostate cancer. Fruits and vegetables like broccoli, coleslaw, and cabbage provide you natural antioxidants. Eating more soy decreases estrogen levels and balances the ratio of testosterone. Miso, tofu, and roasted soy nuts are great soy foods. Avoid meals high in fat as these can raise your testosterone level. Instead, drink low fat milk and eat lean meat. You should also increase your Selenium intake because this is needed for a healthy prostate. Foods high in Selenium are garlic, eggs, tuna, and cashews. Foods rich in Zinc like oysters, nuts, and beans are very good, too. Minimizing your alcohol consumption is also a great way to have a healthy prostate.
