Save the earth! Take up these 4 green habits and your children ( and grandchildren) are sure to inherit an earth that’s still healthy and pulsing with life.
If everyone starts pitching in, our Earth will be in a much better state ten, twenty years down the road. But if everyone just keeps thinking and believing that saving the Earth is only up to those few green heroes, then indeed, Earth will literally be heading down the drain. Here are some simple things you can start today – and they’ll surely go a long way!
Bag it
For your weekly grocery trips or emergency stops, instead of asking the grocers to place your groceries in their logolized PLASTIC shopping bags whip out your own recyclable, earth-friendly, and reusable shopping bag. These eco-friendly bags may not be the cheapest, but their returns are priceless – so better grab a bag now!
Close it
Did you know that keeping the water running wastes 132 gallons a month (think 132 ice cream tubs lying around your house) and roughly 1.585 gallons a year? Even though it takes a little effort to close that tap, it’s well worth it, because you’ll be doing our Earth’s water supply a huge favor.
Walk it
Don’t leave carbon footprints; instead leave your footprints by simply walking! Why take the car when your appointment is only a couple of blocks away? Instead of using up gas for those spur-of-the-moment trips to a convenience store, why not schedule your trips? Take the bike or walk. It will be good for the Earth, your heart, and your lungs.
Recycle it
If we actually put our minds to it, getting into the recycling habit will take one mega-load off Earth’s back! One year’s worth of recycled newspapers can power an entire 3 bedroom house. One recycled glass bottle can power your computer for 25 minutes! Have office papers laying around, gathering dust? Each ton of that saves up to 380 gallons of oil! Now that’s good news to combat the soaring gas prices!
