Oats: The Benefits

When somebody decides to lose weight, that somebody usually adds oats to his or her diet. And the reason is that oats can fill you up good for a long time and it is fiber-rich which help in digestion and metabolism. But oats can be more than your diet companion.

Eating oats can lead to a healthier heart and lower cholesterol levels. Oats, just like other grains, contain lots of plant chemicals good for the body– also known as phytochemicals. Phytochemicals are thought to reduce the risk of developing certain illnesses and disease including cancer. Lignans or phytoestrogen compounds found in oats have been linked to the decreased risk of developing hormone-related diseases, particularly, breast cancer.

So, eat oats not just for the usual reasons and goals such as weight loss and regular bowel movement because it can give you more health benefits than you know. Of course, don’t take this into the extreme. Don’t just eat oats. Mix it up in your regular diet of vegetables and fruits. That way, you’ll get all the nutrition you need to be healthy and fit.
